Wigram takes its name from Sir Henry Wigram, who established a flying school on the site in 1916 before the government took over the airfield in 1923 and ran it as RNZAF Station Wigram. Charles Kingsford Smith landed here in 1928 after completing the first trans-Tasman flight from Sydney, and the base trained pilots and aircrew right through until it closed in 1995. Today the Air Force Museum of New Zealand still sits on the northern edge of the old airfield, and the streets of the Wigram Skies development that replaced it carry aviation names, with the old sealed runway now forming the main street, fittingly called The Runway.

Our premium steaks are all aged at least two weeks to maximize flavour.
Fillet steak is the tenderest cut available and is so lean, there is almost no waste.
