Westmorland only began development in the 1970s, making it one of the more recent additions to the Port Hills, and new sections were still being added as recently as 2020. Sitting mostly on a hillside with commanding views back over Christchurch, Westmorland has a noticeably older average age than most Selwyn or Halswell area suburbs, reflecting a community of established homeowners who bought in for the view and stayed. In February 2017, the Port Hills fires burned through the hills nearby, coming close to Westmorland, Kennedys Bush, and Dyers Pass Road, a reminder of how close this elevated suburb sits to the rugged, tussock covered slopes above it.

Our hams are all cooked on the premises, with minimal water added. You can purchase them whole, or we can slice to order.
All the bacon we sell is dry cured the old-style way on our premises. As the name suggests, dry curing means that no water is added. This ensures that whether you are pan frying or grilling, the bacon doesn't steam, ensuring you get a lovely, crispy result. Perfect for your weekend breakfast!

Our premium steaks are all aged at least two weeks to maximize flavour.
Fillet steak is the tenderest cut available and is so lean, there is almost no waste.
