Yes, Halswell Butchery delivers to Lincoln, covering postcodes 7608, 7674, and 7647.
Halswell Butchery is a locally owned Christchurch butchery that has been supplying quality meat to Canterbury households since 2007. While our retail shop is based at 490 Sparks Road in Halswell, we deliver fresh, locally sourced meat straight to homes and workplaces across Lincoln and the wider Selwyn district. You get the same cuts, the same quality, and the same friendly service that our Christchurch customers have relied on for years, without the drive into town.
Order online and choose delivery or click and collect, and your meat arrives vacuum packed and kept cold in a chilltainer so it stays fresh from our shop to your door.
Lincoln is home to Lincoln University, the oldest agricultural teaching institution in the Southern Hemisphere, and every semester the university brings around 4,000 extra people into the township. Add in the staff at AgResearch, Plant and Food Research, the Foundation for Arable Research, and Landcare Research, all based in Lincoln, and you have a town where student flats, young families, and research staff all shop for dinner on the same night. The New Zealand Cricket High Performance Centre and Bert Sutcliffe Oval are based here too, so the town regularly hosts national under age and provincial cricket tournaments that bring extra mouths to feed.
That mix of flatting students, university staff, and growing families is part of why Lincoln households order their meat online rather than fitting in a shop during a packed week. Whether it is a simple mince and sausage dinner for a student flat or a full roast for a family get together after the cricket finishes at the oval, your order can be on its way without you needing to find a park in town.
The town was laid out in a grid by James Edward FitzGerald in the 1860s, and the main streets, James, Edward, and Gerald, are still named after him and his sons today. Lincoln New World was the first supermarket in New Zealand to generate some of its own power with wind turbines, a nod to the town's status as an Envirotown. The old railway line that once ran through Lincoln to Little River and Southbridge is now the Little River Rail Trail, a popular walking and cycling route that connects Lincoln to Prebbleton. Locals also look forward to the Selwyn Sounds music festival and CultureFest each year, along with the farmers market and craft market that bring the community together around good food.
That community feel is exactly what we try to match with our delivery service. You still get the personal touch of a local butcher, just without needing to fit the trip into an already busy Lincoln week.
If you are a lover of cheese - then you have to try Barry's Bay. The local Akaroa cheese monger makes beautiful cheeses that are perfect for your next platter - or up'ing your burger game. The cheeses are available in store AND NOW ONLINE!
Our hams are all cooked on the premises, with minimal water added. You can purchase them whole, or we can slice to order.
All the bacon we sell is dry cured the old-style way on our premises. As the name suggests, dry curing means that no water is added. This ensures that whether you are pan frying or grilling, the bacon doesn't steam, ensuring you get a lovely, crispy result. Perfect for your weekend breakfast!
A large range of loin, shoulder and Danish style (using just the eye) options, with or without rind are available. Check them out next time you're in.
Our premium steaks are all aged at least two weeks to maximize flavour.
Fillet steak is the tenderest cut available and is so lean, there is almost no waste.
Ribeye steak has a little more marbling, which many believe provides a superior flavour.
We stock a full range of salamis - from a feisty pepperoni, to strong garlic through to mild for those who like to take things a little more slowly.
If you're after an elegant addition to your antipasto platters, look no further than our delicious Prosciutto. Air dried and sliced thin, it's also fantastic to wrap around other meats or fruits.
Another one to try is our Pancetta - Italian bacon which adds a sophisticated touch to pasta and stew.
Sliced Chorizo is another option to spice up your antipasto. It's superb on crackers, or in many Spanish tapas dishes.
Kransky sausages, with their distinctive smoky flavour, make a great alternative for hot dogs, and are usually a big hit with the kids.
Frankfurters are the more traditional hot dog option - and who says you have to wait for the weather to get warm to enjoy a sausage in a bun??
