1. Introduction

Welcome to Halswell Butchery. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website located at https://www.halswellbutchery.co.nz/ (the “Site”) and any purchases you place through the Site. By placing an order or otherwise using the Site you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Definitions

“We”, “us”, “our” means Halswell Butchery. “You”, “your” means the customer. “Products” means meat, poultry, seafood and other goods sold by us.

3. Orders, Acceptance & Payment

All orders are subject to acceptance by Halswell Butchery. Prices are displayed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST where applicable. Payment must be received in full before an order is processed. We may refuse or cancel any order for legitimate reasons, including product unavailability or suspected fraudulent activity.

4. Delivery, Title & Risk

Delivery charges (if any) are stated at checkout. Title and risk in Products pass to you upon delivery to the address specified in your order or upon handover by the courier. It is your responsibility to inspect Products immediately on delivery and to refrigerate or freeze Products as instructed in our product descriptions and packing.

5. Returns, Replacements & Refunds — Perishable Goods Policy

Important: Because we supply perishable food products, our returns and refunds policy is strictly limited and time-sensitive. Please read carefully.

5.1 When a refund, replacement or credit will be considered

We will consider a refund, replacement or store credit only where:

  • You received an incorrect Product (not what you ordered).
  • The Product arrived damaged, spoiled, thawed when it should have been frozen, or in an unsafe condition.
  • Your order did not arrive (non-delivery attributable to Halswell Butchery or our appointed courier).

5.2 How to notify us

You must notify us within 24 hours of delivery by emailing halswellbutchery@gherkinmedia.co.nz or calling +64 3 322 8747. Your notification must include:

  1. Your order number and delivery date;
  2. A clear description of the issue;
  3. Photographic evidence showing the Product and packaging (where relevant).

Products that have been consumed, partially used, or discarded will not be accepted for return.

5.3 Assessment, outcome & remedies

On receipt of your notification and evidence we will assess the claim. If we determine the fault is ours, we will — at our discretion — provide one of the following remedies:

  • Replacement of the affected Product (where available);
  • Store credit equal to the value of the affected Product; or
  • A full or partial refund to your original payment method.

Approved refunds will normally be processed within 5 business days. The timing for receiving refunded funds depends on your payment provider.

5.4 What is not eligible

We do not accept returns or provide refunds for:

  • Change of mind or preference after delivery;
  • Products improperly stored or handled by you after delivery (including failure to refrigerate or freeze);
  • Claims made after the 24-hour notification window;
  • Products that are consumed, partially used, or disposed of prior to inspection.

6. Cancellation

Orders paid for and dispatched cannot be cancelled. If you wish to cancel prior to dispatch, contact us immediately; cancellation is subject to our discretion and may not be possible for perishable items.

7. Warranty & Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Halswell Butchery excludes all liability for indirect, special or consequential loss arising from the use of our Products or the Site. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or other liability which cannot be excluded under applicable law.

8. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Site you consent to that policy.

9. Variation of Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. The version published on the Site at the time of your order is the version that applies to that order.
